Creating a circular drop
As a sustainable occasion dress brand it’s important that I consider the fabrics that are already circulating our earth and not just create with new. I have built up and continue to find wonderful pieces of vintage lace, cottons and trims. For a long while they have been left on my shelf and I felt the urge to just go for it and cut into that beautiful fabric! Always nerve wracking because I cannot replace them and want to do them all justice.
First circular drop
In October I set myself a 1st December goal to create a wonderful collection of dresses from my vintage fabric collection. It was great to set a goal and focus my mind, I had so many lovely ideas, I probably didn’t even achieve half of them in time!! I’m glad I set the goal to see if it was possible but on reflection I don’t think it is the right business model for me. I had a poorly little one for a week, a busy period with other work and fabric that didn’t arrive in time!
What I learned
On reflections I now have a better idea of how my business can be sustainable for the planet and for my life and ambitions. This will be the only altogether drop for now and in future I will create pieces as time and creativity flow and then share when they are complete photograph and share them as I go. This take the pressure off my creativity and juggle around the kids.
